Maitreya Buddhist Monastery

MM Galleri, the Stone Specialist, showcases innovative design to the natural beauty of marble using various cutting-edge techniques such as bending marble.

Maitreya Buddhist Monastery is the center building of the Surabaya Maitreya Temple, the biggest temple in Surabaya. The monastery is managed by Administrators of Maitreya Buddhist Monastery and has a size of ± 1,359 sqm. The monastery houses the Three Jewels Hall, Grand Maitreya Prayer Hall, Grand Ballroom for Dharma Talk, and Wedding Hall.

The design of the monastery is traditional with a touch of modern Chinese tropical architecture. The building has a cone shape with two red pillars furnished with African Red Granite. Upon entering the building, one would see the floor that was furnished with a variety of natural stones.

The focal point is the flower motif on the floor made of Bianco Vaticano marble, Rosso Portogalo Salmon Dark marble, Rosso Orange Calypso marble, and Gold Black granite. The flower design was the hardest challenge for MM Galleri in this project. The design required an alternating pattern around the flower. To make this special, two natural stones were used to create a contrast in color that enhances the beauty of the flower. Besides the flower design, the step towards the holy Buddha statue is made of Platinum Green marble. The marble colour has a subtle green color and grey.
