Since 2008, Sierra, our natural marble skin, has carved stone into the rhythm of mountain ridges: peaks, hollows and shadow lines, in any stone, depth and design.
In 2008, Sierra was born from a simple but bold request. A foreign client living in Bali had fallen for the work of a Japanese designer — interiors built around enormous raw boulders, stone that looked carried in from a riverbed rather than cut in a factory. Inspired by the same vision, we set out to answer his question: could his walls feel the same?
A boulder cannot hang on a wall. It brings its own mass and no way to hold it upright at height. So instead of moving the rock, we set out to carve its character into the slab itself, and what came out of that testing became Sierra: a finish named for the very thing it imitates, the long, weathered ridgelines of a mountain range.
Where a polished finish flattens a slab into a single reflective plane, Sierra gives it a third dimension — a rhythm of peaks, hollows and shadow lines cut directly into the stone. Because the surface is never flat, it changes with the light: raking sun deepens every ridge, and outdoors the texture softens glare instead of throwing it back.
We call it a natural marble skin: a surface of real stone, shaped like a mountainside, laid over a wall so that the whole wall reads as landscape rather than as a finish.
Sierra also gives a second life to slabs that might otherwise be set aside. A texture this deep makes a virtue of the natural marks a polish would expose — naturally inspired, sustainably crafted.
