What Is SINISO? Sintered Stone, True to the Core

SINISO is sintered stone: minerals pressed and fired into one dense body. It has been made in Foshan, Guangdong, since 2020. Every slab measures 1600 × 3200 × 12 mm. In Indonesia it is SINISO by MM, selected and distributed exclusively by MM Galleri. It was unveiled on 19 September 2026 at Indonesia Design Week, Jakarta.

That is the short answer. The longer one is about what lies under the face: who makes the slab, what its four collections are, and where light comes into it.

What is sintered stone?

Sintered stone begins with minerals, not with a quarry. The minerals are pressed into a large slab. The slab is then fired until the particles fuse.

What leaves the kiln is a single, dense mineral body. Nothing is cut from a block, so the format is fixed. That is the first practical difference from natural stone, where slab size varies from block to block.

SINISO contains no resin and no crystalline silica, the fine dust that harms workers when slabs are cut and polished.

The brand puts its own starting point in five words: “It begins with the mineral.” The quality of a sintered slab is decided before the press, by what goes into it.

Who makes SINISO?

SINISO is the high-end sintered stone brand of New Jincheng Group. By its own account, the group is one of the Top 10 international ceramic companies.

The brand was established in 2020 in Foshan, Guangdong. It is a drafting unit of China’s ceramic and sintered stone standard. In other words, it helps write the rules its category is measured by.

The maker is NSF certified. NSF is an independent organisation, based in the United States, that writes public-health standards and certifies products against them. If your project needs a particular certificate on file, ask us for the document itself rather than relying on a line in an article.

What does SINISO by MM mean?

It is the Indonesian edition of the brand. MM Galleri selected 63 colours for the Indonesian market, in four collections. In Indonesia, the brand is selected and distributed exclusively by MM Galleri.

We have worked with natural stone since 1992, from Surabaya. Our collection holds more than 400 types of marble and more than 100 types of granite. Alongside them we carry Lapitec, Dekton, Silestone and Vicostone. This sintered stone is the newest surface in that company.

The edition has its own line, and we mean it plainly: selected for Indonesia by MM Galleri.

What are SINISO’s four collections?

The 63 colours sit in four collections: Full Body, Speckled Body, Coloured Body and Onyx. The body is the stone you see when the slab is cut: at an island edge, a sink cut-out or a chipped corner.

Full Body carries colour and veining from the face to the back. Cut, mitre or round the edge, and the stone carries on.

Speckled Body is coloured and lightly speckled to follow the surface tone: beige, grey or black. Edges and chips stay discreet. It suits hard-working floors, worktops and walls.

Coloured Body puts super-white and beige bodies under marble, limestone and travertino designs. The brightest whites and the clearest glazes sit here, from polished Calacatta to bush-hammered limestone.

Onyx holds four onyx designs with the depth and glow of the natural stone. Two sit on a semi-translucent body that comes alive when lit from behind; the other two carry a crystal-polished glaze on a super-white body.

Collection What it gives you Colours selected for Indonesia Where it earns its place
Full Body Colour and veining, face to back 18 Visible edges, mitred corners, island ends
Speckled Body A tinted, lightly speckled body following the surface tone 11 Hard-working floors, worktops and walls
Coloured Body Super-white and beige bodies under marble, limestone and travertino designs 30 The brightest whites and the clearest glazes
Onyx Onyx designs, two of them on a semi-translucent body 4 Walls and fronts lit from behind

Is SINISO semi-translucent?

Some colours are. The range as a whole is not, and we will not describe it that way.

The Luxury colours in Full Body are semi-translucent, and the factory calls their body Translucent Full Body. They let light in at a full 12 mm. Most translucent sintered stones must be cut down to 3–6 mm before light passes through. Two of the four Onyx designs also sit on a semi-translucent body.

Semi-translucent means light passes into the slab and the face glows. Objects behind it stay hidden. The brand line for this is “Light, held in stone.”

How much light comes through also depends on things outside the slab: the light source, its colour, its distance and how evenly it is spread. Judge it on a lit sample, never on a photograph.

How does it compare with onyx?

For as long as designers have backlit stone, they have reached for onyx. Onyx is a natural stone, and the best slabs glow like honey or ice when lit from behind. We have written a full guide to backlighting onyx, and we still love it.

But every onyx block is different. Slab size varies. The banding that makes one slab beautiful can make the next unusable for the wall you have drawn.

It does not replace onyx. Its semi-translucent colours offer a second route to stone that holds light, in a stated format and a defined range.

When was SINISO launched in Indonesia?

The Indonesian edition was unveiled on 19 September 2026 at Indonesia Design Week in Jakarta. You can read about the week, and the collaboration it was part of, in our Indonesia Design Week 2026 story.

Where would a designer use it?

Start with the body, because the body decides how the edge will look.

Where light is part of the idea, look at the semi-translucent colours: the Luxury colours of Full Body and two of the Onyx designs. A feature wall lit from behind. A bar or reception front that glows at night. A corridor panel that reads as stone by day and a soft lantern after dark.

Where an edge, a mitre or an island end will be seen, look at Full Body. Through the body, to the edge: the vein carries on around the corner.

Where a surface works hard, look at Speckled Body. Floors and worktops take knocks, and a tinted body keeps chips and edges discreet.

For anything beyond that, we would rather answer with your drawings and the maker’s documentation in front of us.

How do you choose a slab?

The same way we would ask you to choose any stone. Look at the face first. Then turn the sample and look at the edge.

If light matters, ask to see the colour lit from behind. Compare the bodies side by side, because the difference between them is clearest at the edge.

Always approve a physical sample before ordering. You can find the collection on our collection page, and our team can arrange a viewing through the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

Is SINISO natural stone?

No. It is sintered stone: minerals pressed and fired into one dense body, made in Foshan, Guangdong. It is not cut from a quarry block, so every slab has the same format, 1600 × 3200 × 12 mm. Natural stone, by contrast, varies in size and character from block to block.

Does SINISO contain resin or crystalline silica?

No. SINISO contains no resin and no crystalline silica. Crystalline silica is the fine dust that harms workers when some engineered surfaces are cut, and it is the reason behind Australia’s 2024 ban on engineered stone.

Is every SINISO colour semi-translucent?

No. Only the Luxury colours of Full Body, whose body the factory calls Translucent Full Body, and two of the Onyx designs are semi-translucent. The Luxury colours let light in at a full 12 mm, where most translucent sintered stones need 3–6 mm. Other colours are chosen for their face, finish and body.

What size is a SINISO slab?

Every slab is 1600 × 3200 × 12 mm. A fixed format makes it easier to plan walls, panels and counter fronts at the drawing stage, and to decide where joints should fall. Large slabs also need a planned route into the building, so discuss access with our team early.

What are the four collections?

Full Body, Speckled Body, Coloured Body and Onyx. Full Body carries colour and veining from the face to the back. Speckled Body is tinted and lightly speckled, so edges and chips stay discreet. Coloured Body puts super-white and beige bodies under marble, limestone and travertino designs. Onyx holds four onyx designs. In Indonesia: 18, 11, 30 and 4 colours, 63 in all.

Who distributes SINISO in Indonesia?

MM Galleri. In Indonesia the brand is presented as SINISO by MM. It is selected and distributed exclusively by MM Galleri, working with natural stone in Surabaya since 1992. Our team can show the colours, the bodies and the edges, and arrange samples before you specify.

Is SINISO the same as onyx?

No. Onyx is a natural stone, quarried and different in every block. This is sintered stone, and only some of its colours are semi-translucent. Both can glow when lit from behind. Choose onyx for a one-of-a-kind slab, and the sintered slab for a defined colour in a fixed format.

Stone, true to the core: the edge is where you can check it.
